Every day, I see tweets from the Occupy protesters.
Most of those tweets are self-congradulatory or more inaccurate whining about the injustices of the world but some are organizational. It isn't just rhetoric and allowing crime in their movement that Occupy has become accomplished at. They use social media to motivate each other and to organize. It's time that those of us who are opposed to what this madness has done to our cities, do the same thing.
I see tweets every day from people across North America who are opposed to Occupy. I see tweets about crime in their camps. I see tweets about how frustrated people are and I see tweets about the inaction of many of our mayors.
We can't rely on our mayors. Too many of them are caught like a deer in the headlights so I'm afraid it is going to be up to us.
It's time to use social media to spread the word that we are fed up with Occupy and want it gone. If you agree, then all you have to do is retweet every message you see on Twitter that opposes Occupy or brings to light one more of Occupy's little hypocrisy's or crime in any of the tent cities that are left. Reply to every OWS message and tell them you are fed up. Be polite but be firm. Let's overwhelm them with the knowledge that they don't represent or speak for us! Retweet to your mayor and city councillors. Let them know constantly how frustrated we all are.
It is time for us to stop being individual voices in the wilderness and start being one very loud voice. If we cooperate wie with each other, we can make enough noise to expose and then drown out the nonsense coming from Occupy. If we cooperate, our mayors may finally become more afraid of us than of the handful of protesters that have them waffling in indecision.
Want to end this Occupy farce? Join the real 99%. Use Twitter to take back our streets and our cities. If we don't step up and get in the game, Occupy wins by default because we couldn't be bothered to dress for the game.

Dont you want a world free from the bully corporation criminals? This is revolution, man.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't revolution, it's not even legitimate protest. You talk about bully corporation criminals. What about the corporations that made your tech toys; your 1Phone, your computer, the software? They're all corporations. What about OWS? It's incorporated and so are many of the companies behind your so-called revolution. You guys just parrot stuff without really knowing what it is your talking about or against.

If OWS were a simple protest, where people came and demonstrated peacefully during the day, then went home at night and left other law-abiding citizens alone, it might have been better received. But because they incited and committed violence (including vandalizing property, rape, burglary, and God knows what else, people turned unsympathic. OWS didn't hurt Wall Street; they hurt all the small businesses they vandalized and the workers and school children trying to live their lives without being terrorized. How does any of what they did affect Wall Street? Not at all. It's time we became a single voice via social media to stand up for our rights, to be a voice for the majority of Americans who are trying to bring about change peacefully. Let me know what I can do to help.

If you want to fight back, all you have to do is retweet every tweet you see that exposes OWS for any violation of our laws, for criminal acts, for violence...anything at all. If someone else tweets something about OWs, retweet it. If you see something from Occupy that you don't agree with, tweet them and tell them. This isn't over but if the real 99% doesn't get involved, it will be over for us before we even dress for the game.
ReplyDeleteOccupy needs to be morphed into something else. Destroying it would actually hurt the 99 percent. It should be incorporated. Whether or not people are on the streets or online expressing their rage: People feel rage. There is a sense of injustice in this country and there should be. The anger that people are expressing is something that many people feel. It's time to do something about it.
ReplyDeleteI don't disagree with you. Everyone has the right to express their support or outrage in a free society and I respect that. We also have the right to do what we can either individually or in a group to try and affect change. The Tea Party, which is a group I definitely don't support, has done exactly that. The NDP in Canada was born out of the same desire for change. I may not agree with either the Tea Party or the NDP but I respect their right to come together, organize and try to bring about the changes they think are necessary. What I cannot and will not support is any group who thinks they are above the law, who believe that they have the right to trample the rights of others and who refuse to take responsibility for the damage and crime caused by some in their movement. I will speak out against that because it undermines our democracy and threatens the security of our communities.
